You were asking about the policy of keeping it in sync with 'Debian',
which I can only read in sync with 'Debian stable' - if you had
something else in mind, let me know.

. If you look at the sources list of a phone you see that packages come
in via other means as well:

    https://source.puri.sm/Librem5/image-builder/blob/master/conf/dists/amber-hose

Those channels can carry newer versions (and they do on a daily basis).
